Statecraft rules

Don’t cheat

Installing mods that give you an unfair advantage over other players is not allowed. Aesthetic and minimap mods are fine, hacks and cheats aren’t. If you’re not sure, ask a staff member. Most of the time if it feels like cheating, it probably is.

Be respectful

Treat other players with respect. Nations can get competitive and emotional, but keep in mind that it’s still just a game and everyone is here to have fun.

Slurs or language disparaging a specific real-world group will never be tolerated.

Play fair

Abusing bugs is not allowed. Technical Minecraft contraptions are allowed so long as they don't cause lag or diminish the experience of other players. Item duping is never allowed.

Play in good faith. Weaponizing the server rules against other players is no fun for anyone.

Use common sense

We might have missed something here. Be smart. If it feels wrong, it probably is. Staff reserves the right to handle situations on a case-by-case basis if they aren't covered here.

Nations Rules

Stealing

Stealing is permitted so long as it is not from a member of your town or nation.

Scamming

Scamming is allowed between players. Building trust is important!

Scamming that involves plugin-facilitated player shops is not allowed. This rule includes misleading players about what item they will receive when they make a purchase from a shop.

Insiding

Spies and intelligence gathering can be a lot of fun, and are generally encouraged on the server. However, insiding is not. Insiding is when a player uses permissions or privileges granted to them by virtue of being a member of a town or nation to hurt that town or nation.

For example - infiltrating an enemy town and joining their militia to learn about secret military plans is allowed. Allowing yourself to be killed repeatedly in a siege to give one side an advantage is not.

Another example - gaining the trust of an enemy king and rising to the rank of coking to influence the foreign policy of that nation is allowed. Using your powers as coking to unilaterally disband the nation, merge with another nation, or otherwise hurt the nation is not.

Griefing

Griefing for the sake of destruction is generally not allowed.

You may demolish other players' buildings if they are in the wilderness. Town mayors and assistants are generally allowed to demolish structures within their town if they determine they are abandoned or that they violate the town rules or general aesthetic. They must give the original builder a reasonable chance to make changes or salvage their materials first.

The Map

Keep the map looking good. That means no large map art (ask permission if unsure), don't excavate large swaths of the desert down to stone, and keep terraforming reasonable. If the terrain near your town has been griefed or damaged, let a staff member know and we can roll it back for you.

PvP

PvP is a core component of StateCraft. In order to keep it fun and engaging, there are a few rules that need to be followed.

First off, no combat logging. If you're beat, you're beat. It's a game. You're always able to craft more gear and come back for vengeance later.

On the same note, don't flee into a non-PvP area during a fight. This rule only applies if you've dealt or received damage in an ongoing fight. We plan on implementing combat tagging soon, so this rule won't be relevant for long.

Targeting new players is not allowed. Everyone hates a newbie killer. Give new players a chance to get established before going after them (if that's your play style). For the sake of this rule, new players are those who have joined within the last 72 hours.

Likewise, spawn camping is not allowed either. This rule will be applied case-by-case, but you can generally assume that if a player has just respawned and hasn't had a reasonable chance to rearm or flee, it's spawn camping. Spawn traps count as spawn camping. Report combat loggers to staff.

Repeatedly killing a player, or going on a killing spree is not allowed. More than three players in at least two separate instances within an hour is considered a spree. This rule does not apply during sieges if all parties involved are participating.

Bases and Buildings

All plainly visible structures should be semi-realistic. That doesn't mean you need to be an expert builder or some kind of professional architect to play here, but it does mean you should make an effort to make your builds look like they could somewhat feasibly exist in the real world.

Basically, that means no cobble monsters or lava casts, no sky-bases or faction-style bases, and no building on top of water. We're happy to grant exemptions to these rules, just talk to a staff member and we can work it out with you!

Towns and Nations

Town and nation names need to be realistic. They don't necessarily need to be the name of a real-life country, city, or state but they also can't be memes. For example, Cascadia, Fort Mackenzie, Dallas, and Colombia are acceptable names. Creeperville, xxCOOLTOWNxx, and ThePatty_Wagons Town are not.

If you choose to name your town or nation after a real-world location, it must be located near where that place is in real life.

Names referencing Nazi Germany are not allowed.

Use common sense

Again, we might have missed something here. Be smart. If it feels wrong, it probably is. Staff reserves the right to handle situations on a case-by-case basis if they aren't covered here.
